WorldCare Clinical Commences DXA and MRI Services on Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Study

Leading Imaging CRO Advances Clinical Research in Hepatology Trials

Boston, MA, June 15, 2017 -- WorldCare Clinical (WCC) a leading provider of imaging and endpoint assessment committees for hepatic clinical trials, today announced that it had commenced MRI and DXA (dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry) services on an international trial to assess a new treatment for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease is the most common form of chronic liver disease, affecting an estimated 80 to 100 million people in the United States. The main characteristic of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease is too much fat stored in liver cells. NAFLD is associated with insulin resistance, high blood pressure, obesity, and metabolic syndrome.

In the current clinical trial, WCC initiated DXA services to evaluate total body fat mass using total body scanners. The study uses MRI to measure the amount of fat in the liver and abdomen. WCC's certified DXA technicians perform the DXA assessments; board-certified radiologists with extensive experience in liver disease perform the MRI reviews.

"Because of our combination of in-house DXA and MRI expertise with a state-of-the art technology platform, we can provide precise data while meeting the demanding turnaround times for this trial. These advanced imaging assessment services complement WCC's other hepatic services which include structural and functional liver assessments, liver cancer detection, and determination of drug-induced liver injury," stated Aaron Timm, CEO of WorldCare Clinical.
